About
A research associate in the Department of Physics designs and carries out, together with a team of PhD students, experimental investigations of the spintronic, orbitronic, thermal and thermoelectric properties of two-dimensional materials and van der Waals heterostructures, including topological materials such as Chern insulators and Weyl semimetals, magnets and ferroelectrics. Device fabrication and characterisation use the facilities of the Guimarães group, CORDE and the Cambridge Graphene Centre. The post is funded for 12 months in the first instance, with a salary range of £33,662-£46,970.
Requirements
A PhD in physics or a related field, or close to completion (appointment at Research Assistant level until the PhD is awarded), with significant experimental expertise in 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures, particularly electrical, spintronic, thermal and thermoelectric measurements of devices based on them.
