Research Technician III - Jin Lab
Developmental Neuroscience, Genomics, Genetics and full-time research technician position at Howard Hughes Medical Institute - Jin Lab at Scripps Research
About
Xin Jin's lab at Scripps Research investigates how physiology and genetics converge to shape the developing brain, combining in vivo CRISPR screening with single-cell multi-omics, spatial genomics and chemical-biology tools. The Research Technician III supports studies of brain development and neurodevelopmental disease mechanisms: mouse handling, colony tracking, genotyping and tissue collection; CRISPR perturbation workflows including reagent and vector preparation; DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR and cloning; nuclei and cell preparation and library support for single-cell sequencing; mammalian cell culture; and analysis and troubleshooting of molecular and quality-control data.
The lab seeks a longer-term commitment, ideally three years or more. Full-time, La Jolla, CA. Hiring pay range: USD 56,400-70,500 per year.
Topics
- brain development
- in vivo CRISPR screening
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in the life sciences (master's degrees welcome); at least 4 years of relevant academic laboratory research experience, preferably in a neuroscience lab; experience with mouse handling, colony management, tissue collection and/or genotyping; standard molecular biology and mammalian cell culture skills. Familiarity with genomics or single-cell sequencing workflows is a plus.
