Scientific project assistant predoctoral: coupled-cluster methods for strongly correlated materials

Doctoral position with Dr. Pavel Pokhilko in the FWF ASTRA project “Coupled-Cluster Methods for Strongly Correlated Materials”, embedded in Prof. Leticia González's group at the University of Vienna Faculty of Chemistry. The candidate develops new coupled-cluster and many-body methods for strongly correlated molecules and materials and applies them to magnetic materials and catalysts, building expertise in strong electron correlation, magnetism and industry-level C++ programming.

The wider group works on semiclassical nonadiabatic dynamics, quantum dynamics, photocatalysis and solvation. The contract is 30 hours per week from 1 January 2027, with a basic salary of EUR 3,776.10 on a full-time basis.

MSc or equivalent in chemistry, physics or a related field, obtained before the start of employment; knowledge of quantum mechanics and quantum chemistry; programming experience; good English (German is not required).
