Rolling support for researchers building an independent junior group and pursuing a chemistry professorship in Germany. The project must move beyond the doctoral research environment, with a new institution and research group.

Apply with a supervisor or host
Covers: Three years, potentially extended by two. Current terms: EUR 3,400 monthly, EUR 3,000 annual academic expenses, EUR 50,000 equipment allowance and a three-year doctoral fellowship. From January 2027, published terms replace the annual expense provision with a EUR 55,000 equipment allowance; other supplements may apply.
Host location: Germany

Outstanding PhD in chemistry or a related field, normally within three years of application, and evidence of independence. A German university or non-university host and mentor commitment are required; return to the PhD institution or supervisor group is excluded.
