Postdoctoral fellowship (one year / renewable to three)
Leinweber Physics Postdoctoral Fellow
Leinweber Institute for Theoretical Physics at Harvard University
About
Postdoctoral fellowship at the Leinweber Institute for Theoretical Physics (LITP) at Harvard, beginning in fall 2027. Fellows pursue their own research interests, collaborate across research groups at Harvard and across the Leinweber Network for Theoretical Physics, which spans nine institutions. LITP pursues curiosity-driven research on fundamental theoretical physics: the laws of particle physics and cosmology at all distance and time scales; the structure of quantum field theories and quantum gravity, including string theory; and concepts such as symmetry, holography and duality that cut across particle, gravitational and condensed matter physics.
Affiliated faculty are Cora Dvorkin, Daniel Jafferis, Sonia Paban, Lisa Randall, Matthew Reece, Subir Sachdev, Matthew Schwartz, Andrew Strominger, Cumrun Vafa, Ashvin Vishwanath and Xi Yin. The initial appointment is one year, renewable for a second and third year; salary $78,000–$88,000.
Requirements
PhD completed by the appointment start date, with research experience overlapping LITP interests, including high-energy theory and phenomenology, cosmology, condensed matter physics or a closely related area of theoretical physics. Submit a cover letter, CV and statement of research interests and plans; three letters of recommendation must be received by 30 November 2026.
