About
Carnegie Mellon's AI and Work initiative, in the Machine Learning Department, seeks a postdoctoral research associate for research at the intersection of AI, operations research and decision making, applied to workforce policy and reskilling. The project builds on optimisation-based models that predict future skill demand in key economic sectors as AI technologies emerge. The postdoc will extend the theory, test and evaluate the model empirically, and calibrate it through simulation and observational data analysis, working with public and private data sets such as O*NET and Lightcast and with industry partners.
The initiative is led by the directors of the NIST-funded AI Measurement Science and Engineering Center and the NSF-funded AI Institute for Societal Decision Making at CMU.
Requirements
Doctorate (or near completion) in operations research, economics, computer science, data science or a related quantitative field; strong foundations in optimisation modelling and econometric, statistical or machine-learning analysis; data-pipeline skills and fluency with modern AI tools are a plus.
