About

Fixed-term postdoctoral position at the Department of Chemistry, University of Bergen, in a group developing catalysts and processes to synthesise ammonia directly from water and nitrogen as a sustainable alternative to the Haber-Bosch process, combining quantum chemical insight with experimental catalyst design, synthesis and evaluation. The fellow will focus on electrochemistry, electrocatalysis and process development: studying the electrocatalytic use and regeneration of samarium(II), which supplies the electrons that reduce dinitrogen to ammonia and is converted to Sm(III), developing electrochemical methods to regenerate Sm(II), and assessing strategies for recycling molybdenum catalysts within the reaction system.

The position is connected to the HyValue research centre for environmentally friendly energy (FME). Gross salary NOK 685,900 per year (code 1352).

Requirements

Doctoral degree in chemistry (or thesis submitted by the deadline), with documented experience in the areas listed in the advertisement.
