Research Associate in the Photophysics of Battery Materials & Molecular Systems (Fixed Term)

Work with Akshay Rao in the Cavendish Laboratory’s Optoelectronics Group on battery materials and molecular systems. Combine optical spectroscopy and microscopy to study charge and ion transport and the chemical and structural changes occurring during operation. Design experiments, analyse datasets and collaborate with academic partners. The 36-month position is available from 4 January 2027 or soon thereafter.

PhD awarded or nearing completion in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related field. Experimental optical spectroscopy and microscopy, relevant materials research, instrument development and large-dataset analysis are essential.
