About

Professor Olli Kallioniemi's Precision Systems Medicine group at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), Helsinki Institute of Life Science, University of Helsinki, recruits a data scientist or biomolecular scientist for its Data- and AI-Driven Molecular Medicine (DAIMM) project. The group develops ways of using generative AI, AI agents and data-driven approaches to explore biology, with cancer and precision medicine, including prostate cancer, as key application areas.

Depending on background, the work covers AI-driven analysis of large-scale biological, molecular and clinical datasets; large language models and AI agents; data infrastructure, databases, software tools, APIs and computational pipelines; and collaboration with biological, computational and clinical researchers. Applicants may come from biology, molecular medicine or bioinformatics with significant computational analysis experience (single-cell, spatial or multi-omics experience is an advantage) or from data science, computer science or software engineering with strong Python and data-engineering skills.

The position is initially filled until the end of 2028, with salary on the Finnish universities' scale and a six-month trial period. The application deadline is 30 November 2026, which the employer may extend until the hiring decision is made.

Requirements

MSc, MSc (Eng) or PhD in biology, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, data science, software engineering or a related field; interest in generative AI, AI agents and emerging AI technologies; excellent English. Apply with a CV and a cover letter.
