About

The Ferrari lab at Penn State seeks up to two postdoctoral scholars to build computational and mathematical models of disease surveillance that guide vaccination programmes towards achieving and maintaining elimination. The Gates Foundation-funded work supports vaccination and control of measles and rubella in humans and/or foot-and-mouth disease in livestock, developing general methods for spatially targeted surveillance and reactive vaccination and tailoring them with in-country partners in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and elsewhere.

Scholars join the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics and its community of infectious disease researchers; the role is likely to involve international travel for extended periods.

Requirements

PhD in a relevant field such as ecology, applied mathematics, statistics, human or veterinary epidemiology, public health, physics or computer science, with a record of productivity; experience with stochastic simulation and fitting models to temporal and spatial infectious disease data preferred; R familiarity preferred.
