About

The Moon Laboratory in the UW Department of Radiation Oncology, closely connected with the Fred Hutch research community, studies how the tumour microenvironment and metabolic alterations shape cancer progression, metastasis and responses to radiation therapy. The postdoctoral scholar contributes to both lab programmes: metastasis and tumour metabolism (lipid metabolism, hypoxia, redox biology and the tumour microenvironment in metastatic adaptation) and FLASH radiation biology (how iron metabolism and redox state influence tumour and normal-tissue responses to ultra-high dose-rate versus conventional radiation, and biomarkers of response).

The scholar designs mechanistic studies with molecular, cellular and in vivo cancer models, including mouse tumour, metastasis and radiation studies, and is encouraged to develop an independent direction. Anticipated start January 2027; base salary $5,705-$6,372 per month. Applications submitted by 30 November 2026 receive full consideration.

Requirements

PhD (or foreign equivalent) in cancer biology, molecular and cellular biology, radiation biology, metabolism or a related field by the date of appointment. Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, gene manipulation, flow cytometry, microscopy and in vivo cancer models is valued. Submit a cover letter (up to two pages), CV and three referee contacts via Interfolio.
