Understanding the Mysteries of the Cell: How Do Many Cell Types Arise From One Genome?

Cell Biology, Genomics, Molecular Biology and seminar by Stephen Quake, D. Phil. Lee Otterson Professor. Bioengineering and Physics, Stanford University

Hosted by Collège de France

Monday 17:00–18:00 Paris (GMT+2)

Recording available

Amphithéâtre Maurice-Halbwachs, Site Marcelin-Berthelot · In person

Abstract

Stephen Quake explains how different cell types use a shared genome in different ways. Single-cell transcriptional profiling provides a route to mapping this diversity. The lecture describes a human atlas containing over a million cells from 24 tissues and organs, resolving hundreds of cell types and tissue-dependent patterns of gene expression.
