About
The Charles A. King Trust Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program supports basic and clinical research on the causes of human disease with the aim of improving its treatment. It funds mid- to late-stage postdoctoral fellows and mentored clinician-scientists training in Massachusetts to help them become independent investigators. The programme supports research across biomedical fields, and applicants apply under one of two separate but linked programmes: the Basic and Preclinical Science Award Program or the Clinical and Implementation Research Award Program. Additional funding from the Sarah Elizabeth O'Brien Trust and the Simeon J. Fortin Charitable Foundation supports research on cancer or vision. Awards run for two years from 1 October 2027 and total $200,700–$221,600, including a $25,000 annual flexible expense allowance. The 2027 cycle begins with an Initial Stage application; the programme is administered by Health Resources in Action (HRiA).
